Tibetan prayer beads, also called malas, are a tool used in Tibetan Buddhism for prayer and meditation. They are made of different materials such as wood, stone, seeds, etc. and are adorned with symbols. They consist of 108 beads symbolising 108 prostrations in meditation. Malas serve as a reminder of one's intentions and help to focus during meditation. The repetitive motion of the beads sliding through the fingers creates a calming sensation that promotes concentration and connection to one's spiritual practice. Whether experienced or new to meditation, a Tibetan mala can help with spiritual growth. The malas can also be worn as a necklace or a bracelet (wrapping around the wrist).
