What makes a Tibetan purse more than a practical everyday object?

A wallet is one of the few objects we hold in our hands every day. We open it several times a day, reach inside, close it again. Choosing a Tibetan wallet brings a piece of craftsmanship and a quiet sign of Tibetan culture into this everyday moment.

Our selection includes flat folding wallets, coin purses and zip pouches in hemp and cotton, some embroidered with the eyes of the Buddha or the endless knot. All pieces are handcrafted by Tibetan artisans in the Himalayas. Each one is made individually, so no two are exactly alike.

In the tradition, the eyes of the Buddha gaze out from the great stupas in all four directions and stand for his all-encompassing wisdom. The endless knot symbolises the interconnectedness of all things. In this way a wallet also becomes a gift with meaning.
