A good gift has little to do with price and much to do with attention: with the sense to choose something that suits the person who receives it. With Tibetan pieces, even small things carry great meaning. A braided lucky cord, a small dorje, a bundle of incense sticks: none of them costs much, and each tells a story that goes far beyond its price.
Incense sticks are among the most accessible gifts from the Tibetan tradition. Their fragrance gives a room its own atmosphere, for people who meditate, practise yoga or simply appreciate natural scents. A mala of wood, stone or rudraksha seeds is used in the tradition to count mantras. Those who do not meditate wear it as a beautiful and unusual bracelet.
They are joined by small pieces of jewellery such as copper and brass bangles, rings and pendants with Tibetan symbols, but also wallets, bags and prayer flags. The braided lucky cords, bangles, rings, pendants, bags and wallets are handcrafted by Tibetan artisans in the Himalayas, so no two are exactly alike.
